Featuring our exclusive Marantz Musical Mastering-Stream conversion processing, the SA-10 is equipped with a powerful DSP-only digital-to-analog conversion system that re-formats conventional PCM digital audio data to pure 1-bit DSD bitstream via dual SHARC latest generation DSP processors with a combined computational power of no less than 5.4 GFLOPS (5.4 billion floating point operations per second).
Designed with a no-compromise approach for the ultimate listening experience, the SA-10 features a massive copper-plated chassis with individual copper-plated sub-sections, along with our exclusive HDAM discrete circuit topology, which dispenses with the usual IC op-amp chips found in conventional audio components in favor of precision discrete circuit elements.
Enjoy listening to the latest high resolution uncompressed (lossless) digital audio formats, including ALAC, FLAC, AIFF and WAV types, as well as all three DSD formats (2.6/5.2/11.4-Mhz). There are USB-A and USB-B ports for connection to a wide variety of source devices, along with optical and coaxial digital inputs.
Featuring balanced audio construction throughout, the SA-10 features XLR balanced audio connectors as well as un-balanced connections for compatibility with any amplifier or pre-amplifier.
Advanced DSP PCM-DSD Marantz Musical Mastering-Stream Conversion Processing
The SA-10 features perhaps one of the most advanced and most powerful DSP-only processing solution, which converts all PCM audio data to DSD 1-bit data, utilizing the latest and highest specification dual 4th generation 32-bit/40-bit SHARC processors (one for each audio channel), with a combined processing power of no less than an astonishing 5.4 billion floating point computational operations per second (5.4 GFLOPS). As DSD bitstream has long been hailed as one of the most analog-like of all digital audio formats, the SA-10 delivers one of the most faithful and natural musical reproduction with virtually any digital audio file/format type, regardless of format, bit length or sampling frequency.
The final analog stage, which converts the DSD 1-bit data to analog, is comprised of our exclusive HDAM-SA2 discrete circuit topology (no IC op-amp chips are employed), and the result you hear is nothing short of breathtaking, as it faithfully adheres to our philosophy of reproducing the original performance just as the artists and engineers intended.
The advanced DSP processing includes the ability to choose between two different digital audio filter algorithms, letting you listen to one of the best possible sound quality with various digital audio formats and music types.
High Resolution Audio File Compatibility
Enjoy your favorite high resolution music tracks with the SA-10, which features the ability to decode and playback a wide range of high res audio file types, including lossless file formats such as FLAC, ALAC, WAV and AIFF up to 384-kHz/32-bit and all three DSD sampling frequencies (2.8/5.6/11.2-Mhz).
Exclusive Marantz HDAM Technology
Marantz has developed a true discrete solution with our HDAM (Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Module) technology. The SA-10 features multiple HDAM-SA2 stages, operating as line amplifiers and buffer stages.
Even the SA-10's headphone output benefits from HDAM-SA2, which features its own dedicated HDAM-SA2 circuitry with multiple gain/impedance settings for compatibility with virtually any headphone.
USB DAC Modes
Connect a PC or laptop via the USB-B port and enjoy your favorite high resolution audio sources, which features special noise isolation circuitry for the purest audio reproduction. There's also a USB-A port for connection to a USB thumb drive or NAS device, and you can also connect your favorite iOS audio device, including the iPod, iPod touch, iPhone and iPad, for direct digital audio streaming. The SA-10 can also decode other digital audio sources as it's equipped with optical and coaxial digital inputs for connection to other digital components.
Dual Master Clock Crystals
The SA-10 employs dual master clock crystals that ensure accurate timing for both types of sampling frequencies. The first is optimized for CD and CD-like variants (44.1-kHz, 88.2-kHz, etc.) and the second is optimized for other types (32-kHz, 48-kHz, 96-kHz, etc.). Having dual master clock crystals ensures accurate data timing for each format's sampling frequency, without the need for re-clocking/sampling rate re-conversion.
SACD-M3 CD/SACD Multi-Format
Securely housed on a rigid isolating subframe, the SACD-M3 drive mechanism is able to accurately read the broadest range of audio disc formats, including CD, CD-R, CD-RW, SACD single layer, SACD multi-layer, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R and DVD+RW discs.
Toroidal Power Supply
The power supply plays a critical role in the design of a high performance audio component and the SA-10 comes equipped with a custom-designed toroidal power transformer that's housed in a magnetically shielded casing which is copper-plated for maximum resistance to induced interference with delicate low voltage circuitry nearby. It's equipped with OFC (oxygen free copper) secondary windings for maximum power transfer integrity.
Copper Plated Chassis
For maximum rejection of induced distortion caused by stray magnetic fields the SA-10 features a copper-plated chassis, with additional shielding via a copper-plated sub-chassis that houses the digital DSP board.
